What are the Requirements for the Use of Arc Flash Suit? How to Check?

Our arc flash suit is flame resistant, heat-insulating, anti-static, and anti-arc explosion. At the same time, it’s protection cannot be washed out and worn away. Once it comes into contact with arc flames or hot heat, the high-strength and low-extension bulletproof fibers inside will automatically expand rapidly, thereby making the fabric thicker and denser, forming a protective barrier to the human body.

Arc injury usually refers to the arc thermal burn caused by the huge arc heat generated by electricity in ionizing air when the human body has not been exposed to electric current. People usually know about accidental electric shock. But in fact arc damage is more dangerous in the power industry. Arc injury is different from ordinary electric shock injury. It is often negligible and difficult to avoid without contact. Direct contact with ignited clothing can cause serious burns or death to workers.

In order to prevent arc injuries, there are arc flash suit. The protective effect of arc flash suit is based on the principle of arc discharge. It is made of high-tech materials and suitable for electrician's daily work and potential arc environment. It is divided into two types: one is arc flash operating clothing (long coat design), and the other is arc flash workwear (jacket and trousers design).

The inspection of arc flash suit includes factory inspection, test inspection and pre-use inspection. The certificate and appearance should be checked before use.

Inspection requirements for arc flash suit:

1.The mark is clear and complete, without damage.

2.The gap between the cuffs of gloves and arc flash suit should not be less than 100mm.

Using instruction of arc flash suit:

1.It can only properly protect body parts other than the head, hands, and feet. Therefore, in an environment prone to arc hazards, it must be used together with the equipment like arc hoods, insulating shoes, etc. When entering an arc environment, you must wear arc flash suit and other supporting equipment, and do not expose your skin to the outside at will to prevent serious accident damage when an accident occurs.

2.The wearer may reduce their sensitivity to arc hazards during the process of working. Therefore, do not lower your awareness of arc hazards when working in an electrified environment, and do not expose your body at will. When an abnormal situation occurs, you must leave the scene in time and avoid direct contact with the flame.

3.Personal arc protection equipment that is damaged and cannot be repaired should be scrapped.

4.Once personal arc protection equipment is exposed to arc energy, it should be scrapped.

5.Personal arc protection equipment that exceeds the manufacturer’s recommended service period or the number of normal washings should be tested, and those that fail to pass the test should be discarded.
